KEDRA + WEBFLEET

Using Webfleet? Here's what it doesn't cover.

Webfleet gives you enterprise-grade telematics — GPS, tachographs, route optimisation. But MOT tracking, insurance monitoring, cost-per-mile analysis, and daily vehicle checks still live somewhere else. Usually a spreadsheet. Kedra replaces that spreadsheet.

WHAT WEBFLEET DOES WELL

Webfleet is good at what it does

Tracking and telematics. That is their job, and they do it well.

Enterprise-grade telematics

Webfleet manages some of the largest fleets in Europe. Live tracking, route optimisation, OptiDrive analytics, and deep integration with logistics and ERP systems. Serious infrastructure for serious operations.

Tachograph and drivers' hours

For fleets running HGVs, Webfleet's tachograph download and drivers' hours compliance features are best-in-class. Remote download, infringement alerts, and working time directive monitoring.

Route optimisation

Dynamic route planning, traffic-aware ETAs, and order management. If your operation involves multi-drop deliveries or scheduled collections, Webfleet has the logistics tools.

THE GAPS

What Webfleetdoesn't manage

Tracking tells you where vehicles are. It does not tell you whether they should be on the road.

MOT and vehicle tax monitoring

Webfleet does not check the DVLA for MOT or tax status. If a vehicle's MOT expires, Webfleet does not know and does not alert you. That compliance gap still needs managing manually.

Insurance renewal tracking

No mechanism for tracking insurance expiry dates across your fleet. No alerts before policies lapse. This critical compliance item lives outside Webfleet entirely.

DVLA vehicle enrichment

Webfleet knows a tracker is fitted to a vehicle. It does not pull make, model, fuel type, CO2, keeper details, or any other DVLA data. Vehicle records are managed elsewhere.

Fleet-wide cost analysis

Webfleet's reporting focuses on driver behaviour, utilisation, and route efficiency. Total cost of ownership, service cost tracking, and cost-per-mile analysis are not part of the platform.

Van and car walkaround checks

Webfleet's inspection tools are focused on HGV pre-use checks. If you also run vans or cars, the daily check requirement is not covered by the platform.

Driver licence verification

No built-in driver licence tracking or expiry monitoring. For fleets that need to verify licence validity and categories, this has to be managed separately.

HOW KEDRA FILLS THE GAP

The compliance and admin layer your tracker needs

Keep Webfleet for tracking. Add Kedra for everything else.

The compliance layer Webfleet doesn't have

Kedra monitors MOT, tax, insurance, and driver licence dates for every vehicle and driver. Automated alerts before any deadline lapses. The compliance safety net your telematics platform cannot provide.

DVLA data on every vehicle

Enter a registration and get 16+ fields from the DVLA. Full MOT history from DVSA. Tax status, V5C data, specifications. All auto-populated and kept current.

Cost tracking and TCO

Log fuel, servicing, tyres, and insurance costs against each vehicle. See total cost of ownership and cost per mile across your fleet. The financial visibility that sits alongside your operational telematics.

Daily checks for the whole fleet

DVSA-aligned 31-item digital walkaround checks for vans and cars. QR code access, photo evidence, digital signatures. Covers the vehicle types that Webfleet's HGV-focused checks do not.

No hardware, no contract

Kedra is pure software. Month-to-month billing. No hardware to install, no multi-week implementation. Add it alongside your existing Webfleet setup in minutes.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is Kedra a replacement for Webfleet?+
No. Webfleet is an enterprise telematics platform (GPS, tachographs, route optimisation). Kedra is fleet administration software (compliance, costs, DVLA data, inspections). They complement each other.
Can I use Kedra and Webfleet together?+
Yes. Webfleet handles your telematics and logistics. Kedra handles your compliance deadlines, vehicle records, cost tracking, and daily checks. No overlap, no duplication.
We already have Webfleet — do we really need another tool?+
If your MOT dates, insurance renewals, and fleet costs are currently tracked in a spreadsheet alongside your Webfleet data, then yes. Kedra replaces that spreadsheet with automated monitoring and alerts.
Does Kedra have tachograph features?+
No. Kedra focuses on fleet administration for vans and cars — MOT, tax, insurance, cost analysis, walkaround checks. For tachograph compliance and HGV drivers' hours, Webfleet is the right tool.
Is Kedra suitable for large fleets using Webfleet?+
Yes. Kedra works for fleets of any size. It adds the compliance and administration layer that Webfleet does not cover, regardless of fleet size.
