Quartix is good at what it does
Tracking and telematics. That is their job, and they do it well.
Real-time GPS tracking
Quartix has been providing vehicle tracking since 2001. Their GPS hardware and live tracking platform is mature, reliable, and trusted by tens of thousands of UK fleets. You know where every vehicle is, right now.
Driver behaviour scoring
Their SafeSpeed database and driver behaviour analytics identify risky driving patterns, help reduce accidents, and can lower insurance premiums. Genuine value for fleets focused on road safety.
Route and mileage data
Detailed trip history, route replay, and accurate mileage recording direct from the tracker. Useful for billing, expense claims, and fleet utilisation analysis.
THE GAPS
What Quartixdoesn't manage
Tracking tells you where vehicles are. It does not tell you whether they should be on the road.
MOT and tax expiry tracking
Quartix has no awareness of when your MOT or tax is due. No alerts before a vehicle goes out of compliance. You are still checking the DVLA website manually — or relying on memory.
Insurance and licence monitoring
No tracking of insurance renewal dates. No driver licence expiry checks. No visibility of whether a driver is actually authorised to drive the vehicle they are assigned to.
DVLA vehicle data
Quartix knows the tracker is in a vehicle. It does not know the make, model, fuel type, CO2 emissions, V5C keeper, or any other DVLA data. You manage that information separately.
Maintenance cost tracking
No service history. No cost-per-mile calculations. No total cost of ownership analysis. No fuel spend tracking beyond what the tracker infers from distance. The financial side of fleet management is invisible.
Daily walkaround inspections
Quartix does not provide a walkaround check system. DVSA-aligned daily vehicle inspections, defect logging, and duty of care evidence are not part of the platform.
Compliance audit trail
If an auditor asks for proof of your fleet compliance processes, Quartix cannot help. It tracks vehicle locations, not compliance status, inspection results, or administrative records.
